Mission Statement

Gorham Youth Lacrosse Association is a non-profit, volunteer based, organization that operates under the name of Gorham Youth Lacrosse Association.  Established in 2002, our primary responsibility is to organize, fund, and provide a fun and safe atmosphere for young athletes to learn and enjoy the sport of Lacrosse.  Gorham Youth Lacrosse Association strongly believes in developing strong character as well as strong bodies and operates under several program cornerstones:  RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT, HONESTY, SPORTSMANSHIP, and PRIDE.

Gorham Lacrosse Program Cornerstones   

Responsibility:

  • A Gorham lacrosse player is responsible for punctuality to games and practices, and is ready to play with appropriate equipment and attitude.
  • A Gorham lacrosse player is responsible for abiding by the Code of Conduct on and off the field.


Respect:

  • A Gorham lacrosse player respects opponents by playing in the spirit of the game.
  • A Gorham lacrosse player respects coaches by listening and accepting direction.
  • A Gorham lacrosse player respects officials by abiding by decisions without comment.
  • A Gorham lacrosse player respects the team by giving 100 percent effort.


Honesty:

  • A Gorham lacrosse player is honest by ensuring that all equipment and techniques are fair and legal.
  • A Gorham lacrosse player is honest by taking ownership of his/her mistakes on and off the field.


Sportsmanship:

  • A Gorham lacrosse player exhibits sportsmanship by positively encouraging all other players.
  • A Gorham lacrosse player will be modest in victory and gracious in defeat.
  • A Gorham lacrosse player will understand that winning in an unsportsmanlike manner is not winning at all.


Pride:

  • A Gorham lacrosse player will take pride in representing themselves, their team, their school, and their community.
  • A Gorham lacrosse player will take pride in any and all accomplishments.
  • A Gorham lacrosse player will take pride in learning from success as well as failure.
